The Danfoss OBC 82.10 is a microprocessor-based electronic controller designed for the automatic sequencing, flame supervision and safety shutdown of two-stage forced-draught oil burners with a maximum oil throughput of 30 kg/h.
The controller can be used with burners equipped with an oil preheater as well as burners without a preheater. Digital processing provides precise and reproducible operating times that remain stable despite variations in supply voltage and ambient temperature.
When the boiler thermostat requests heat, the controller begins the oil-preheating sequence where applicable. Once the oil reaches the required release temperature and the preheater thermostat closes, the burner motor starts the prepurge sequence and the ignition transformer is energised.
After the specified prepurge and pre-ignition period, the first-stage oil valve V1 opens and releases fuel to the burner nozzle. The second-stage valve V2 subsequently opens according to the programmed operating sequence. When the boiler thermostat ends the heating demand, the controller de-energises its outputs and prepares the burner for the next start-up cycle.
The OBC 82.10 continuously monitors the combustion cycle and flame signal. If a flame is not established or an unsafe operating condition is detected, the controller shuts down the burner and enters safety lockout.
A two-colour LED provides burner operating information and lockout diagnostics. Fault causes can be read as flash codes using the reset button. Undervoltage conditions are displayed automatically.
The controller limits the burner to three restart attempts following flame failure within the same operating period. It also limits oil-preheater operation to ten minutes. If the preheater does not reach its release temperature within the permitted time, the controller enters alarm mode.
Typical applications include two-stage oil burners, heating boilers, hot-water boilers, steam boilers and domestic or commercial liquid-fuel heating systems.
Installation, wiring, flame-sensor selection, commissioning and fault diagnosis must be carried out by qualified burner-service personnel. Replacement must match the burner wiring, timing sequence, flame detector and complete Danfoss order code.
