The Siemens LMO24 is a microcontroller-based oil burner control box designed for automatic start-up sequencing, flame supervision, operating control and safety shutdown of forced-draught liquid-fuel burners.
Depending on the complete model reference, the LMO24 can be used with one-stage or two-stage oil burners operating in intermittent mode. It is generally suitable for oil throughputs up to 30 kg/h, although certain versions may support higher capacities.
The controller manages burner components such as the fan motor, ignition transformer, oil-preheater circuit and fuel valves. Digital signal processing provides accurate and reproducible operating sequences.
Yellow-burning flames can be monitored using compatible Siemens QRB1, QRB3 or QRB4 flame detectors. Blue-burning flames can be supervised using a compatible Siemens QRC1 detector. The flame detector must be selected according to the burner design and complete LMO24 reference.
The controller includes undervoltage detection, electrical remote reset, oil-preheater bridging and preheater-time monitoring. It also limits repeated burner restart attempts following operating faults.
A multicolour LED displays burner operating status and fault information. Diagnostic flash codes assist qualified service personnel in identifying lockout causes and unsafe operating conditions.
The LMO24 provides controlled intermittent operation by interrupting and restarting the burner after 24 hours of continuous operation. This allows the controller to repeat the safety checks associated with the burner start-up sequence.
The LMO series uses the same housing dimensions, electrical connection technology and flame-detector arrangement as the Siemens LOA control family. However, an LMO24 must not be installed as a replacement based only on physical fit. The operating sequence, safety time, wiring and detector compatibility must match the burner manufacturer’s approved specification.
Typical applications include domestic and commercial oil burners, heating boilers, hot-water boilers, steam boilers, kerosene burners and one-stage or two-stage pressure-jet burner systems.
Installation, wiring, flame-detector selection, lockout diagnosis and commissioning must be performed by qualified burner-service personnel. The controller must not be opened, altered or repaired.
